LOCATION

The main office of Ecological Associates is located on Johns Island, just south of Charleston, South Carolina.  We also maintain an office located in Western North Carolina to better serve our clients in the upstate regions of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Ecological Associates provides a comprehensive range of ecological, environmental, and natural resource consulting services. The services that we provide assist our clients in complying with prolific and complex environmental regulations, and making sound land management decisions -- while at the same time promoting a high level of environmental quality.

JURISDICTIONAL WETLAND DELINEATION

Ecological Associates has over 35 years of experience in performing wetland delineations, and is proficient with the current methodology for identifying and delineating jurisdictional wetlands. Ecological Associates has substantial experience with various Corps of Engineers districts and associated protocol throughout the southeast. Ecological Associates' personnel are certified in advanced wetland methodologies, regulatory procedures, and habitat evaluation procedures, and are recognized as qualified consultants in the states where we work.

THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES SURVEYS

Threatened and endangered species surveys, also referred to as protected species surveys, are typically performed for the Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, or the National Marine Fisheries Service to satisfy requirements of the Endangered Species Act (16 USC 1531-1543). Our staff is continually coordinating with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and appropriate state natural resource agencies to remain current on new and proposed species listings and associated regulatory procedures. Professional disciplines in ecology, fish and wildlife biology, and botany provide a broad range of expertise for conducting protected species surveys.

ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING

Wetlands, protected species, and natural resource concerns are increasingly and justifiably being incorporated into the early stages of project planning. These services, most of which are required at some time during the life of a project, are more valuable when performed during the early phases of the project -- as they can minimize potential impacts of these issues on the proposed development and lead to more informed decision-making. Ecological Associates, as a partner in planning, is adept at finding efficient and creative solutions to the technical and regulatory aspects of ecological, environmental, and natural resource issues.

REGULATORY COORDINATION AND PERMITTING

Ecological Associates has over 35 years of practical experience in applying various federal and state environmental laws and regulations, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, and various state statutes throughout the Southeast. We believe that regulatory coordination, both pre- and post-project, is the key to effective environmental permitting. Ecological Associates has developed a rapport with the permitting and regulatory agencies, with whom we do business, by offering professional exactness, reliability, and integrity.
